(CHRISPINE.ORG) - Chris Pine made a phone appearance around noon on the first day of the Comic-Con. Apparently, he phoned into the director at the panel for "Quantum Quest," a 3D CGI animation combined with space sequences and imagry from NASA.
Chris Pine spoke to co-director Dr. Harry Kloor who put his mobile phone close to the microphone to address the audience and promote the animated feature.
Pine described his motivations for being a voice actor, "Cause they always looked like they were having the most fun." the comical faces he made in the voiceover booth, and his respect for science. Pine added, "If I had a movie like this when I was younger, I may have been more into it."
(CHRISPINE.ORG) - The box office is exploding this summer with Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen reaching the $300 million mark domestically in just 14 days leapfrogging over UP to be the year's number #1 film.
In the midst of the popcorn and long lines, Star Trek reached another milestone topping the $250 million mark as it slowly winds down in theaters. Studio excecutives and fans alike were looking forward to this kind of success in hopes of justifying another Star Trek film the series. As of yet, Paramount has been hush on any confirmations of a sequel.
(CHRISPINE.ORG) - Chris Pine was caught crossing the street on June 15 with his blue hoodie, going for his morning coffee on an overcast Tuesday morning.
Chris is caught in a pose reminiscent of the Bigfoot, photograph by Patterson-Gimlin in 1967. Chris Pine wears his favorite blue hoodie, his classic black jeans and Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses.
Chris is looking clean shaven again, likely in preparation for "Farragut North" which plays from June 16 to July 26. It's a good thing too -- some may have mistaken him for Sasquatch when he had the beard.
(CHRISPINE.ORG) - People issued its annual list of most eligable bachelors in their June 29 issue and Chris Pine was picked as one of the most eligible bachelors this year. Edging him out for the top spot was Chance Crawford of Gossip Girl.
The other People's eligible bachelors included Shia LaBeouf (Transformers), Adam Lambert (American Idol), Ryan Eggold and Kellan Lutz (90210), Dwayne Johnson (Race to Witch Mountain), Brody Jenner (The Hills), Common (Terminator Salvation), Taylor Kitsch (Wolverine) and Robert Pattinson (Twilight).

(CHRISPINE.ORG) - Star Trek was positioned as the number one box office film of the year -- up until this weekend. We all knew it would come to an end when Transformers and Harry Potter were released but little did we know, another sleeper hit would surpass it this week.
Up, the animated film by Pixar now leads 2009 with a take of $250,218,000 total this weekend with Star Trek in a close second at $246,225,000. The release of this week's Transformers 2 added further competition to the fire with it climbing at a rabid pace topping $201,246,000 total since Wednesday.
(CHRISPINE.ORG) - Early June, it was reported that Chris Pine was in negotiations to portray a train conductor along with Denzel Washington in a plot to stop an unstoppable train loaded full of toxins destined to level a city.
According to Variety, it's been reported that Washington has withdrawn negotiations to take part in the film. Fox was showing budget concerns and with Denzel costing around $20 million per film, the studios were talking about cutting back on expenses.
The film proposal apparently had poor timing with the Washington and John Travolta collaboration in "The Taking on Pelham 1 2 3" earning a paltry $53 million domestically after a $100 million budget.

Regarding Chris Pine, the British tabloid the Daily Express quotes Patrick Stewart as saying, "brilliant, charming, truthful, funny and utterly delightful."

As for Star Trek, the weekend estimates are at $5.6 million putting it at $232 million domestic making it #61 on the all-time domestic list. After international number are released, at this tme Star Trek sould be around $350 million in global sales.
Interestingly, the surprise animated hit "Up" will likely surpass Star Trek as #1 movie of 2009 in less than two weeks from now.

Did you know that Chris Pine almost declined his role in Star Trek to work with George Clooney?
"This one week I had the opportunity to work with Clooney, in this movie, ‘White Jazz,’ which was the sequel to ‘LA Confidential,’ ” said Pine. "On top of the fact, once I met J.J. [Abrams] it was kind of a done deal."
