Early Life

Christopher Whitelaw Pine was born August 26, 1980 in Los Angeles, California to Robert Pine and Gwynne Gilford; he also has a sister, Katie. His father was an actor and had a contract with Universal, while his mother was a seamstress for B-movies. His maternal grandparents were Anne Gwynne, a Hollywood actress, and Max M. Gilford, a Hollywood attorney. Pine graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a degree in English.

I also graduated with a degree in English, but from Cal State Fullerton.

I
remember going to parents' day at Berkeley when my son was a freshman and seeing
your parents.

Your grandmother was a wonderful actress. I actually have a framed movie still
and a complete set of lobby cards from the movie: We've Never Been Licked from
1943. She was wonderful in as a damsel in distress for so many horror flicks in
the 40's. You have great acting genes to build on.

sister of my late uncle BJ. I'm also a fan of your father. Never was able to
meet your grandmother or your father, but my late Aunt Ima spoke fondly of your
family. Have a lot of talent in that family. Break a leg Chris...you will be
great.
