Star Trek International Poster
(CHRISPINE.ORG) - The Press Association is reporting that JJ Abrams and the rest of the cast have signed a contract for a sequel.  Actually, the word used was Trilogy.

"If they make more, we all signed on for three so if they want us to, we'll board the ship again," said the Zachary Quinto, the actor cast as Spock.  Chris Pine added, "This movie is yet to come out. I'm praying that it's a success. If it is and they invite me back I'll definitely be a part of it and we'll see what happens."

Variety reports that Paramount Pictures was so pleased with JJ Abrams rendition of Star Trek, that they've already moved forward with continuing the franchise with an informal projection date of Summer 2011.   Screenwriter Alex Kurtzman reports that all things depend on how theatergoers respond to the May 8th Release stating, "Obviously we discussed ideas, but we are waiting to see how audiences respond."

After taking a back seat in supporting roles in movies such as The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement (2004), Just My Luck (2006), and Smokin' Aces (2007), the actor Chris Pine finally made lead billing for a film when he accepted a lead role in the eleventh installment of the Star Trek series, taking on the part of Captain James T. Kirk.
