Star Trek Surpassed by UP as #1 Film of 2009

Up Movie Poster(CHRISPINE.ORG) - Star Trek was positioned as the number one box office film of the year -- up until this weekend. We all knew it would come to an end when Transformers and Harry Potter were released but little did we know, another sleeper hit would surpass it this week.

Up, the animated film by Pixar now leads 2009 with a take of $250,218,000 total this weekend with Star Trek in a close second at $246,225,000. The release of this week's Transformers 2 added further competition to the fire with it climbing at a rabid pace topping $201,246,000 total since Wednesday.
